mPEG-MA,20K is a water soluble polymer that is used as a coating on iron oxide particles. It has hydrophilic properties and can be used to increase the surface area of the particles to improve their performance in a variety of applications. The coating is applied by an incremental process by adding small amounts of mPEG-MA,20K to the particle suspension until the desired amount is reached. This coating can be applied to various types of particles including latex, polystyrene, silica, or titania. The viscosity of this coating solution is measured before and after application to ensure that it does not change significantly during application. A reaction time for this coating can be set based on the type of particle being coated, which allows for more accurate control over the thickness of the final coat layer. This product also outperforms other coatings in terms of uptake and chloride resistance when compared with pegylated coatings.
