Rac-Etodolac binds to the microbial membrane, preventing the passage of nutrients into the cell and causing it to die. Rac-Etodolac can be used in wastewater treatment systems that utilize membranes or filters, as well as in bioreactors. Rac-Etodolac is also efficient for removal of organic matter from wastewater streams and can be used for removal of carbohydrates, such as glucose and sucrose, from water.
