- Cannabipinol
- Pentylcannabicyclol
Cannabicyclol is a cannabinoid found in Cannabis sativa. It was first isolated and identified as a major component of the plant in 1970, but its biological activity was not discovered until 1990. Cannabicyclol has been shown to inhibit the ubiquitin ligases responsible for the degradation of proteins in cells. This causes an accumulation of proteins that are usually degraded, leading to the immune system attacking them. Cannabicyclol has been shown to be beneficial in autoimmune diseases such as diabetes, where it prevents the destruction of insulin-producing cells. Cannabicyclol also inhibits surface methodology which is used by certain bacteria to attach themselves to host cells and invade them. The compound has also been shown to have chemoattractant properties, which may be due to its ability to stimulate stem cell factor production and cell factor activity.
