Product Information
Compound 2 is a novel, potent and selective inhibitor of the enzyme nitrate reductase. Nitrate reductase is an enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of nitrate to nitrite, which can be reduced to ammonia by other enzymes. Compound 2 is a potential anticancer agent because it has been shown to selectively kill cancer cells in culture. It has also been shown to have a synergistic effect with cyclin D2 inhibitors. The compound also inhibits DPP-IV activity and thus may have potential as an oral hypoglycaemic agent for type II diabetes.
The compound's mode of action is not yet known but it is hypothesized that the mechanism may involve cell specific inhibition of squamous cell carcinomas or etoac extract.
