Product Information

Name:
Compound 23
Description:

Compound 23 is a coumarin derivative that inhibits the Cox-2 enzyme. It has demonstrated inhibitory properties against a variety of bacterial and fungal strains, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Candida albicans. Compound 23 has been shown to inhibit the replication of DNA and protein synthesis in vitro. This drug binds to penicillin-binding proteins in the bacterial cell wall by competitive inhibition, preventing the formation of an antibiotic-inhibitor complex with the enzyme cell wall synthesis that is required for cell wall biosynthesis, inhibiting protein synthesis and cell division. Compound 23 also has been shown to have pharmacokinetic properties that may be advantageous for treating skin cancer.
