2-Chloro-4-fluoro-5-sulfamoylbenzoic acid is a novel, potent inhibitor of the enzyme glutamate decarboxylase. This compound has shown to act as a competitive antagonist at the glycine co-agonist site on the GABA receptor and inhibits NMDA receptor currents in rat cortical neurons.
