Product Information
- Nitrohydroquinone dibenzyl ether
- 1,4-Bis(Benzyloxy)-2-Nitrobenzene
1,4-Dibenzyloxy-2-nitrobenzene is a nitration product that is an ether. It has been shown to undergo radical nitration and produce 1,4-dibenzyloxy-2,6-dinitrobenzene with regioselectivity in the 2 position. This compound also undergoes a radical mechanism for nitration with the formation of tert-butyl nitrite as the intermediate. Nitrite can be used as a reducing agent to form 1,4-dibenzyloxy-2-nitrobenzene from 1,4-dibenzyloxybenzene. Sesamin can be used as an antioxidant to prevent the formation of peroxides during this reaction.
