Product Information

Name:
BMVC-8C3O
Description:

BMVC-8C3O is a fluorescence probe that has been shown to specifically bind to the mitochondria of prostate cancer cells. The uptake of BMVC-8C3O in these cells was observed using confocal laser scanning microscopy and was found to be dependent on the concentration used, with a maximum binding at 1 micromolar. Telomeres are also located within mitochondria and have been shown to have an interaction with BMVC-8C3O. This interaction has been shown to decrease the telomere length, which is linked to cellular senescence and cancer. Cancer cells have also been shown to have an increased amount of BMVC-8C3O, which may be due to their high metabolic rate. The sequence of BMVC-8C3O has not yet been determined, but it is hypothesized that it will interact with dna replication or transcription.
