Description:DS-1971a is a novel drug that has been shown to have neuropathic pain-relieving properties. The compound was initially synthesized as a potential analgesic, but it had not been tested in vivo until recently. It has been shown to inhibit the development of neuropathic pain by inhibiting voltage-gated sodium channels and potassium channels, which have been implicated in neuropathic pain. DS-1971a is also an inhibitor of monoamine oxidase (MAO) and acetylcholinesterase (AChE). Preclinical studies have shown that DS-1971a has a good safety profile with no toxicological effects at doses up to 500 mg/kg.
