The methylation of the phenyl ring of 5-Methyl-3-phenyl-1,2-oxazol-4-amine with sodium methoxide in methanol leads to the formation of 5-(Methoxymethyl)-3-phenyl-1,2-oxazol-4-amine. This compound is then reacted with aryl bromides such as 2,4,6-trichlorophenyl bromide in the presence of anhydrous potassium carbonate to produce the corresponding 4-(2′,4′,6′tri(chlorophenyl)biphenyl)-5-(methoxymethyl)oxazolo[3,2-a]pyridine derivative.
