Product Information
Tris(2,4-dimethoxyphenyl)methanol is a chemical compound that has been studied extensively for its antimicrobial properties. It is a hexamethoxy derivative of 2,4-dihydroxybenzaldehyde and has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria by binding to the polyhydroxylated aromatic ring. Tris(2,4-dimethoxyphenyl)methanol also has an effect on the hydronium ion concentration in water and can be used as an indicator for acidic solutions. The trisubstituted groups on this molecule make it able to form hydrogen bonds with water molecules. Tris(2,4-dimethoxyphenyl)methanol has been shown to form micelles in aqueous solution and can be used in polymer films.
