- Baccatin A
Enniatin A is a chemical inhibitor that has significant cytotoxicity in vitro. Enniatin A inhibits energy metabolism by binding to the enzyme complex of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) synthase, which prevents the production of ATP. The mechanism of action has been shown to be due to intermolecular hydrogen bonding with a conserved serine residue at the active site of ATP synthase. Enniatin A has also been shown to inhibit DNA polymerase activity and induce genotoxic effects in experimental models.
