It is an anionic polymerization and can be used to make linear polymers. 2-(Methylamino)octanoic acid has been shown to inhibit the arachidonic acid cascade, which is a pathway that leads to inflammation and pain. This drug also inhibits estrogen production in breast cancer cells and has been shown to reduce the size of tumors in mice. 2-(Methylamino)octanoic acid also has anti-inflammatory properties and is being studied as a potential treatment for rheumatoid arthritis.
