Product Information
FIIN-2 is a member of the fibroblast growth factor family and is involved in angiogenesis. It has been shown to be expressed at high levels in urothelial carcinoma cells, suggesting that it may have a role in tumor growth and progression. FIIN-2 expression was also seen in the microenvironment of breast cancer tumors. FIIN-2 has been shown to activate tyrosine kinase receptors, which are potential drug targets for antiangiogenic therapy. FIIN-2 expression can be detected by immunohistochemistry or immunofluorescence staining with monoclonal antibodies to this protein. The crystal structure of FIIN-2 has also been determined using X-ray crystallography, revealing that it shares structural similarities with epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and Herceptin (trastuzumab), which are currently used as drugs for targeting breast cancer cells expressing Her2+.
