Description:
Gancaonin I is a prenylated tetracyclic triterpenoid. It has been shown as a hypoglycemic agent in clinical studies with collagen-induced diabetes. Gancaonin I also has anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties, which are mediated by the inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis. Gancaonin I is found in glycyrrhiza uralensis and glycyrrhiza species, and can be extracted from these plants to produce medicines or supplements.
