Description

Ssioriside is a chemical compound found in the leaves of the plant Chrysanthemum morifolium, also known as Shiso. It has been shown to have chemopreventive effects against UVB-induced skin cancer in mice and is thought to be due to its ability to inhibit reactive oxygen species and reactive nitrogen species. Ssioriside has been shown to cause a dose-dependent decrease in the number of basophilic leukemia cells, which may be due to its ability to inhibit adriamycin-induced cellular damage. This compound has also been shown to prevent skin damage induced by ultraviolet light, which may be due to its antioxidant properties.
