Product Information
INCB 13739 is a hydroxylated analog of the antidiabetic agent rosiglitazone. It has been shown to have potent inhibitory activity against chronic oral glucose tolerance in humans. The metabolic effect of INCB 13739 is associated with the inhibition of hepatic gluconeogenesis and the induction of insulin secretion by pancreatic β-cells. This compound has also been shown to have pharmacokinetic properties that are similar to those of rosiglitazone, such as low bioavailability and a long half-life, which may be due to its metabolism in the liver. A molecular modeling study revealed that INCB 13739 binds to human liver microsomes with high affinity and selectivity. The benzyl groups on INCB 13739 are necessary for its binding activity and metabolism in the liver.
