Caspase inhibitor III is a potent caspase-3 and -7 inhibitor with IC50 values of 0.8 μM and 2.6 μM, respectively. It also inhibits the activation of other caspases including caspase-9, -6, and -2. Caspase inhibitor III binds to the active site of caspase-3 (the catalytic domain) by a noncompetitive inhibition mechanism that does not require ATP binding or hydrolysis.
Caspase inhibitor III is purified from E. coli cells using a proprietary process that yields a highly pure product with high protein yield (>90%).
