Product Information

Name:
Akt/SKG Substrate Peptide
Description:

Akt is a protein kinase that belongs to the serine/threonine kinase family. It is activated by phosphorylation and has been shown to be involved in cell growth, survival, and metabolism. Akt may also regulate transcription by phosphorylating the translation initiation factor eIF4E and by increasing the rate of mRNA transcription. SKG peptide is an Akt substrate peptide that has been shown to inhibit cancer cells from growing. In addition, it stimulates mesenchymal cells to differentiate into adipose cells and promotes thermogenesis in brown adipose tissue. The sequence for this protein was determined using clinical studies on human subjects with breast cancer.
