It is not an activator and does not bind to the cgmp-dependent protein kinase. Rp-8-pCPT-cGMPS binds to the cgmp-dependent protein kinase, inhibiting its activity. This inhibition of cgmp-dependent protein kinase leads to increased levels of cGMP, which results in a rise in intracellular calcium levels and an increase in cardiac contractility.
