Description:

Boc-Asp(OBzl)-OH is a cyclic peptide analog with an amino acid sequence homologous to the natural substrate of soybean trypsin. It has been shown to inhibit thrombin by intramolecular hydrogen bonding. Boc-Asp(OBzl)-OH has also been used as a prodrug for the synthesis of other analogs, such as Asp(OBzl)-Bz-NH2, which inhibits human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) protease. This inhibitor has been found to be effective in vitro and in vivo against HIV-1 strains that are resistant to other protease inhibitors, such as saquinavir, indinavir, and ritonavir.
