Description

Mirtazapine is a potent and selective antagonist of the presynaptic α2-adrenergic receptors. It is an atypical tetracyclic antidepressant and is used primarily to treat depression. Mirtazapine inhibits the central presynaptic α2-adrenergic receptors, which causes an increased release of serotonin and norepinephrine.
