2-[3-Chloro-5-(trifluoromethyl)pyridin-2-yl]ethan-1-amine hydrochloride (2CFPE) is a dpp-IV inhibitor. It inhibits the enzyme dipeptidyl peptidase IV, which is responsible for the degradation of the incretin hormone glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP1). 2CFPE has been shown to inhibit cell factor and increase cardiac effects in animal models. This drug binds to response elements on DNA and can be used as a potential antiobesity drug. 2CFPE has been shown to have low toxicity and does not induce weight gain in animal studies. The structure of 2CFPE was determined by x-ray diffraction data, chemical analysis, and optical sensor studies.
