It inhibits the efflux pump PheA, which is used by bacteria to export the antibiotic carbapenem. QPX7728 has shown potent inhibitory activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Enterobacter cloacae (E. coli) isolates, with a MIC value of 0.5 µg/mL. This drug has been shown to have a clinical use for treatment of infectious diseases caused by these bacteria.
