Description

AAI101 is a broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent that inhibits the growth of bacteria by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit. The compound has been shown to be active against colistin-resistant Gram-negative bacteria such as Acinetobacter baumannii, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Stenotrophomonas maltophilia. AAI101 is an inhibitor of bacterial translation with a mechanism of action that is different from other antibiotics. It binds to the 50S ribosomal subunit and inhibits protein synthesis, leading to the inhibition of cell division. This drug also has antibacterial properties against Gram-positive organisms, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Enterococcus faecalis.
