SR 144528 is a cannabinoid receptor antagonist. SR 144528 binds to the cytosolic C a 2 + channel and inhibits the release of Ca 2 + from intracellular stores. This effect results in decreased activation of MMP-9 and reduced production of proinflammatory cytokines. SR 144528 also suppresses mitochondrial membrane potential, leading to cell death by apoptosis. SR 144528 has been shown to have synergistic effects with low doses of glycol ethers, which may be due to its ability to inhibit energy metabolism and receptor activity.
