T2Tetraol is a sample preparation reagent that is used in tissue culture. It can be used to prepare samples for fluorescence microscopy and immunochemistry assays. T2Tetraol is also an intermediate in the synthesis of zearalenone, a mycotoxin that has been shown to cause reproductive disorders in animals. This compound is a glucuronide conjugate of fatty acid. T2Tetraol inhibits the growth of f. sporotrichioides and monoclonal antibody production by this fungus. The lethal dose for this compound was determined to be sublethal doses for mice, which are 2-3mg/kg body weight.
