Mycophenolate mofetil is an anticancer drug that inhibits the growth of cancer cells by targeting protein kinases. It is a potent inhibitor of inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase, an enzyme involved in the synthesis of guanine nucleotides. Mycophenolate mofetil has been shown to induce apoptosis in Chinese hamster ovary cells and human cancer cell lines. This drug is also used as a medicinal inhibitor for kidney transplant rejection. The analogs of mycophenolate mofetil have shown promising results in treating various types of tumors, including breast and lung cancers. Additionally, mycophenolate mofetil has been found to be effective in reducing proteinuria in patients with lupus nephritis.
