Description:VE 821 is a chemical inhibitor that inhibits the activity of the protein ornithine decarboxylase (ODC). This enzyme is essential for the synthesis of polyamines, which are essential for cell growth. VE 821 has been shown to be effective in inhibiting the growth of solid tumours and leukemia cells. It also inhibits the production of DNA, RNA, and proteins by cells. VE 821 has minimal toxicity to healthy cells, and has been shown to work synergistically with other pharmacological agents such as radiation therapy.
