2,3-Difluoro-1,4-diiodobenzene is a cyclic organic compound that is used in the synthesis of semiconducting materials. It has been shown to be a good candidate for use in transistors and other electronic devices. Synthesis of 2,3-difluoro-1,4-diiodobenzene requires the reaction of 1,2-ethanedithiol with sodium difluoride. The product can then be purified by vacuum distillation. The molecular skeleton of 2,3-difluoro-1,4-diiodobenzene consists of two fused benzene rings and two fluorine atoms bonded to each ring. This molecule also absorbs light in the ultraviolet region (UV) and visible region (VIS) of the electromagnetic spectrum.
