Description:DC1SMe is a carbamate cytotoxic agent that binds to the phosphate group of ATP, ADP and AMP. DC1SMe has been shown to be cytotoxic in cancer cells by inhibiting the synthesis of DNA, RNA and protein. The phosphoryl group of DC1SMe can be removed by phosphatases and it can form stable adducts with glutathione or other thiols. This makes the compound more soluble in water, which allows for easier administration. It also has high affinity for cell membranes and is able to cross the blood-brain barrier.
