Description:
Sodium ²-styrenesulfonate (SPS) is a cyclized β-lactam that has been used in the synthesis of other β-lactams. It is an analogous molecule to penicillin, which can be prepared by the reaction of 2,4-dichlorobenzene with sodium sulfide. SPS is a chlorinated molecule and can be analyzed by X-ray analysis.
