Product Information

Name:
2-Methyl-5-isopropylaniline
Synonyms:
  • 3-[Nitroso(Prop-2-En-1-Yl)Amino]Propane-1,2-Diol
  • 5-Isopropyl-2-Methyl-Aniline
Description:

2-Methyl-5-isopropylaniline is a chemical that has been shown to have an antiproliferative effect, inducing cell apoptosis. It has also been shown to inhibit the growth of tumor cells by inducing cell death in human fibroblasts and colorectal carcinoma cells. The mechanism of action appears to be due to 2-methyl-5-isopropylaniline binding to DNA. This binding inhibits the synthesis of RNA and protein, inhibiting cancer cell proliferation. 2-Methyl-5-isopropylaniline has also been shown to induce DNA strand breaks and inhibit the repair process, which leads to rapid cellular death.
