Product Information
Decanoic anhydride is a heterocyclic compound that is formed by the reaction of hydrochloric acid with decanoic acid. Decanoic anhydride is used as a cross-linking agent in chromatographic applications, as it can be converted to an ester or amide with a carboxyl group. Decanoic anhydride has been shown to have the ability to inhibit the growth of resistant mutants and cause thermal expansion in model studies. It has also been shown to induce apoptosis, which may be due to its ability to induce reactive oxygen species production and block mitochondrial membrane potential.
