Product Information

Name:
Eichlerialactone
Description:

Eichlerialactone is an antibacterial, antimycobacterial, and antifungal agent with significant cytotoxicity. It has been shown to have a significant cytotoxic effect against cancer cells and virus type-1. Eichlerialactone is active against gram-positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, and also has anti-tuberculosis activity. The antimicrobial activity of Eichlerialactone is due to its ability to inhibit bacterial protein synthesis. It binds to the ribosome and inhibits the binding of tRNA to mRNA, inhibiting protein synthesis. Eichlerialactone also has strong anti-inflammatory effects that are thought to be due to its ability to alter prostaglandin synthesis by inhibiting cyclooxygenase enzymes.
