This compound also induces apoptosis in human liver cells by disrupting mitochondrial membrane integrity. 3±-Aminocholestane inhibits growth of avian influenza virus in vitro and in vivo and is used as a gas sensor for detecting hydrogen sulfide, ammonia, and formaldehyde.
