Description:Food Red 4 is a synthetic red dye that is soluble in organic solvents. It can be used as a food, drug, and cosmetic additive. The dye has been shown to have high binding constants for both metal ions and carbon nanotubes. A Langmuir adsorption isotherm was used to determine the equilibrium adsorption of this dye onto polyvinyl monomeric particles. The electron microscopic analysis showed average particle diameters of ˜1 μm. This dye has been synthesized using an azobenzene monomer and a polymer film.
