Phosalone is a carbamate insecticide that inhibits the cholinesterase enzyme. It binds to the ryanodine receptor, which leads to an inhibition of calcium release from the endoplasmic reticulum and an increase in intracellular calcium levels. Phosalone is also genotoxic and has been shown to inhibit acetylcholinesterase activity. This drug may be used as a fungicide for plants and as an insecticide for animals. br>Phosalone has been shown to have carcinogenic effects on skin cancer cells by inhibiting acetylcholinesterase activity. The compound was also found in kidney beans, which may be due to contamination from agricultural runoff or pesticide application.
