Product Information
Name:Direct Blue 2
Brand:Biosynth
Description:Direct Blue 2 is a reactive dye that can be used as a redox indicator. This dye has been used in the treatment of wastewater and waste water, where it is often used in conjunction with biological treatment. Direct Blue 2 is also found in the electrophotographic process and is used to develop black-and-white images on paper. The diameter of Direct Blue 2 molecules ranges from 7 to 10 nm and they are amides. They have a high degree of solubility in organic solvents such as benzene, chloroform, and ethanol, which makes them useful for dyeing cellulose fibers. Direct blue 2 has two electron-donating groups: an amide group and an aliphatic hydrocarbon chain. The molecule contains one fatty acid that can be metabolized by peroxidases or other microorganisms into short-chain carboxylic acids that are biodegradable.
