Neolitsine is a compound that has been found to have antihypertensive activity. It is an orally active, chromatographic profile, and hydrochloric acid derivative of the amino acid lysine. The compound inhibits the synthesis of ephrin-A5 through its inhibition of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) activation and thereby prevents cell proliferation. Neolitsine also has cancer chemopreventive effects against hepatic carcinogenesis. In addition, it has been shown to inhibit the expression of epidermal growth factor (EGF), which leads to a decrease in the rate of cell proliferation. It can be used as an alternative therapeutic agent for cancer treatment or prevention.
