1,3-Dihydro-2-benzothiophene is a hydroxylated thiophene that binds to the benzothiazole receptor. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in vitro. 1,3-Dihydro-2-benzothiophene also has anti-inflammatory properties and is used to treat chronic bronchitis and inflammatory diseases such as Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis.
