Triethanolamine oleate (TEAO) is a fatty acid ester of triethanolamine. It is used as a hydroxyl scavenger and polymer film-forming agent. TEAO has been shown to have strong absorbent properties, which are due to the presence of a hydroxyl group, and can be used in the treatment of candida glabrata and other infections caused by fungi. TEAO has also been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects, which may be due to its ability to chelate metal ions such as silver ions.
