Methyl N-acetylanthranilate is a chemical that belongs to the class of anthranilic acid derivatives. It is used in assays for renal proximal tubular function and has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of cancer cells. Methyl N-acetylanthranilate is converted by methylation at its amino group to methyl anthranilate, which inhibits cellular growth and induces apoptosis in cancer cells. This compound also inhibits the proliferation of human kidney cells (HK-2) and may be useful for the treatment of cancer.
