It has been shown to be effective in the treatment of benzofurans and aldehydes. Methyl 2-naphthylacetate binds with high affinity to cationic surfactants and chiral salts. This compound has also been used as a radical chain initiator for the synthesis of benzofurans and aldehydes, as well as being detected at high concentrations in plasma samples by nmr spectroscopy.
