GB110 has been shown to be effective in the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease and colorectal carcinoma. It is also used as a marker for detection of microbial infections, such as Helicobacter pylori, although it can be detected in other conditions such as inflammatory diseases. GB110 is structurally similar to EGF, but with a lower potency.
