Solasurine is an extractive that originates from the solamargine, xanthocarpum, and nigrum species of plants. Solasurine is a potent vasodilator that relaxes blood vessels and improves blood flow to the brain. It also has mild anti-inflammatory properties and may be able to prevent or reduce asthma symptoms. Solasurine can be prepared by extracting the bulk drug from the plant with dilute alcohol.
