Methyl isoquinoline-1-carboxylate is an organic molecule with the formula CH3OC(=O)C6H4CH2NHC(=O)OC6H5. It is a methyl ester of isoquinoline-1-carboxylic acid. The compound has been found to have high values in oxidation reactions, and it can be used as a terminal oxidant in organic synthesis. Methyl isoquinoline-1-carboxylate can also be used as an experimental oxidant for the oxidation of terminal alkenes, such as acrylates, to produce terminal epoxides. This compound is a diastereoisomer of methyl 2,4,6-trimethoxybenzoate and can be synthesized by oxidative coupling of phenylglycine and phenyl ring followed by triflation.
