Dimethyl diethylmalonate is a solid catalyst that is used in the production of polyesters and other organic chemicals. It is often used with chlorine or malonic acid as an additive, which increases its viscosity. Dimethyl diethylmalonate has a hydrocarbon group and can be used with copper to form a c1-6 alkyl copper complex. Dimethyl diethylmalonate is also used as an additive in lubricants, paints, and varnishes.
