Description:
Precyasterone is a triterpenoid saponin that is found in the bark of the cypress tree. It has been postulated to be a precursor of cholesterol and isobutyric acid. Precyasterone has been shown to have unintended effects as a pesticide, causing molting and metamorphosis in insects. It also has anti-inflammatory properties, which may be due to its ability to induce the expression of MMP-13.
