Product Information
Methyl 2-(quinolin-2-yl)acetate (MQAA) is a quinolizidine that is used as an intermediate in the synthesis of other compounds. It has been shown to cause a decrease in blood pressure by inhibiting cyclooxygenase activity and reducing the production of prostaglandins, which are responsible for vasoconstriction. MQAA also possesses esterase activity, which may be due to its methyl ester group. MQAA is converted into glycerol and methylester by esterases, which may have anti-inflammatory effects.
